It's Not Good To Overly Focus On Bad News
Let's take a breather, so we can last throughout the war... not just a few battles.
I’ve been trying to keep up on all the activity coming out of the Trump regime. This is nearly impossible for one person to manage, and as you may know I’ve also been looking for a job due to financial issues and mounting debt. The stress is eating away at me and my closest relationships. I try to put on a positive face, but I’m not always successful. I did manage to land work, however it is only for $15 an hour - part time - up to 29 hours a week - not nearly enough to pay all the bills and get caught up. But, its something. I start next Monday. I’ll add my obligatory request for paid subscriptions here - if you like what I do, and can spare a dime to support the publication:
My last article I thought was important enough that I spent weeks reading and researching, and from my own experiences in corporations came up with something that I could have probably spent another few months on to really get polished. If you haven’t read it, I think you should because it summarizes the system that has been responsible for colonialism, genocide of indigenous people, the slavery of African and indigenous peoples, wars, and continued concentration of wealth, for and in unfettered corporations. The first publicly traded corporation and stock exchange were created near the beginning of the “Age of Sail” and euphemistically named “Age of Discovery” in 1602, and created a bridge between Feudalism and today with a brief rest in the middle of the last century when Progressive, New Deal, and Civil Rights laws gave us the most current high-point of democracy and freedom in history. It also corresponded to the building of a strong middle class, beating back poverty, and beginning to address the minority injustice of the previous centuries.
I was born at the height of this time, what I think of now as the penacle of democracy. I didn’t know it. Looking back on it now, I really wish I had. I would have appreciated what I had more, savored the moments, and put more focus and effort in keeping it safe and expanding it. All of that is water under the bridge, and I’m hoping my article can help open people’s eyes today. It has links to key terms and concepts if you want or need to dive deeper, and I think of it as a reference that can be used over and over to refresh understanding of not only progressive support of democracy, but the historical context of where we find ourselves today.
Do Yourself A Favor
So, after you’ve doom scrolled through the news, and read my article, you should take some time off for your own mental health and overall well-being. You should do this on a regular basis because we have to outlast our enemies, and our enemies have money and time to spare, and little if any empathy. We have to be prepared for hard knocks. We need to be able to ‘roll with the punches.’ In short, to be resilient.
Here are some ways to raise your vibrations and refresh yourself mentally, in no particular order:
Read inspirational literature: e.g. "The Power of Positive Thinking" - Norman Vincent Peale or whatever you find inspirational.
Read biographies by people who have overcome great obstacles - we need to believe we can overcome. e.g. Martin Luther King Jr.
Play Sopheggio Frequencies -- play them in the background throughout the day (see on YouTube); or find music that is inspirational, uplifting, or revolutionary - that makes you feel like it’s possible to win.
Find out what you can do well, and contribute in your local area.
Spend time outside, in nature, take walks. Hug a tree. Mother earth is here for us.
Phone a friend. Connecting with others can break you from Trump induced depression. Hold hands with your significant other, hug your children.
Organize a gathering - form community. Get together on a regular basis locally IRL.
Share good news and ask for good news. Focusing on the negative all the time is not good for your mental health.
Meditate - and ask for guidance. Connect on a regular basis with your higher self/power.
Consult with a mental health professional. They will have other things you can do to help yourself.
Exercise - get your body moving, especially if you’ve been hunched behind a screen since November.
Good luck, and stay positive as you can!
I’m in your boat, my friend! I’ve been raising my children and taking care of my mother while she died and it’s time to go back to work at the worst time in the world and we are out of money. Yay Trump thanks and to hear this was all predicated on “Ron Vara” I made up anagram of Peter Navarro‘s name. They’re all fraudsters.
