Should I Rebrand?
I'm considering rebranding 'Resistance Radio', and here's why:
When I started this endeavor my intention was to, perhaps naively, create a news publication that would focus on the Federal government branches, Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. I started off that way, and quickly found that I had bitten off more than I or any normal person alone could chew. The Trump regime flooded the zone with so many changes that it quickly became easier for one person to measure the output in metric shit-tonnage than in any coherent manner of reporting. I gave it my best shot, but what I was attempting really required a team of researchers to accomplish effectively, and things were changing on the information and news landscape.
Almost immediately the corporate media space began to disintegrate, bending their collective knees to Trumps demands, and some really talented heavy hitters (read: professionals) migrated to SubStack (Jim Acosta, Terry Moran, Katie Phang, et al), lending even more credence to the indie news space on the left. Around the same time, the independent media space gained even more traction and exceeded both the corporate media and right wing / ‘Manosphere’ space online. One prime example: Meidas Touch exceeded FOX News and Joe Rogan viewship. I also found more resources that were doing what I was doing - and way better than I could do myself. With the fall of corporate media at the feet of Donald Trump, I was amazed at how many really dedicated and talented indie reporters stepped up to fill the void. A critical mass of people had shifted and made indie news and information on the left viable again.
On top of that, my personal situation, coupled again with my naive view of how quickly I could monetize my work here, led from me focusing most of my time on this publication to having to focus my time on finding and then working a ‘day job’ to make ends meet. As a result this publication suffered even more and drifted from its stated goal. I was not able to feed this enough to grow and add the staff needed to keep up. In April I decided I needed to do something different to combat not only the Trump Regime, but more importantly the DNC under current leadership was just regurgitating the same neoliberal ‘moderate’ claptrap that got us into this situation in the first place. The news that I was originally trying to report, was already being cared for by a host of excellent indie reporters and professionals exiled from the corporate media space. It is in good hands, and my redundancy wasn’t the best use of my own time. Most recently we have seen the emergence of leaders on the progressive left who are fighting hard against Trump and the oligarchy behind him; visibility is now front and center, and the old guard on the right and the left are being exposed to the public scrutiny for what they are and what they stand for: the rich elite at the expense of We The People.
Some of the best people covering the Trump regime and the Federal Government in general on YouTube include, and I recommend:
They are covering it more comprehensively than I will ever be able to, and they are far more entertaining than I will ever be. I don’t know what, if any impact I made by focusing on news initially. However, as this publication evolved, I came to realize that there was an important story to be told about progress: progress arrested, impeded, and stolen by the European interloper.
500 years of European conquest finally created enough cognitive dissonance that it birthed the progressive movement at the turn of the last century. Rich people in power don’t know when to stop taking from the poor and minorities. You can’t really argue against progress - it’s opposition is regression. Who really wants to go backwards, other than disaffected white supremacists and greedy bastards sitting on piles of cash with grotesque ideas about racial purity? It’s about making things better, plain and simple. So, what explains the backlash to it today? Well, if you think about it, Europeans have been riding on the top of the world for over 500 years now. That’s a lot of time to get comfortable, happy, and blissfully unaware of your own advantages versus every other ethnic group you lord over. The error they made though is coming to the conclusion that this advantage came out of a supremacy and merit as a race, when in fact it came out of abuse of power through enslavement and suppression of human rights. Later, once they realized the jig was up and people demanded better lives, reactions to change shifted more to leveraging money to control and manipulate government so they could maintain control, even as civil rights, social safety nets, and corporate regulations from the last century built the middle class and freed minorities from enslavement - a new kind of enslavement came about: Jim Crow birthed the Prison-Industrial Complex and the corporation the donor class who quickly went about deregulating themselves for the benefit of their owners - most of which we still live with today, constituting a major component of authoritarianism.
The core element of establishing a mature and responsible government, which is long overdue, is progress. All of the smokescreens and fear that the oligarchy on both sides of the political divide send out, are only in service of that abusive 500 year old system. 500 years is 500 years too long for such an abusive system to be in control of everyone’s fate. Now is the time to grow up as a people and a nation. Now is the time to end the abuse and grow into a new level of maturity, and abandon our childish ways. No more political expediency of the Neo-liberals sucking up to the rich elites while abandoning the poor, minorities, weak, and the working people.
So I find myself at the cross roads of my own making. Shall I keep going and try to hold this together somehow? Or should I shake myself free of what is not working, and make that turn onto a new road that is simpler but I reckon is the more effective road? Resistance is futile. Time to change the rules and focus on progress, winning the fight, and destroying this modern manifestation of fascism for good. Progress interrupted.
